How to Take a Detox Bath
I love baths because they are so relaxing. I stay away from using bubbles or bath bombs because they are harsh on my skin and only add more toxins to my body. Thinking about soaking in a tub full of chemicals does not give me the best feeling.
I read about detox baths awhile ago and they're something I love and I want to share with you guys how to take one! Detox baths are meant to make you sweat and flush your body of toxins. Not only that but they are also great for balancing hormones and pH levels, as well as relieving stress, headaches and sore muscles. That's something we all need at some point!
How to take a detox bath:
Step 1: Don't eat anything 30 minutes before your bath, only drink water
Step 2: Run a bath as hot as you can stand it. Add 1/2-1 cup of epsom salt, a couple shakes of baking soda, and a 2-3 drops of essential oils of your choosing. It is important to use oils that can be applied topically because it will be soaking into your skin. I like to add lavender because it is soothing and relaxing as well as lemon because it is a natural cleaner.
Step 3: Soak for 20-30 minutes. Let your body and mind relax. Listen to your favorite music or a podcast while you're soaking.
Step 4: When you are done be sure to stand up s l o w l y because you will be a bit dizzy after laying in hot water for so long. Turn on the shower and do a quick rinse off with cold water.
This will help your dizziness and cool your body down.
Step 5: I like to moisturize with a natural body lotion afterwards. Especially now that it's winter and my dry skin is coming out from hiding. After a bath or shower is the best time to use lotion because it will trap the moisture in your skin that was absorbed from the bath or shower.
Step 6: Just like before your bath, don't eat directly after and drink lots of water to replenish your body of the fluids you lost while sweating.
If you've never tried a detox bath, I highly recommend giving it a try! I love giving myself time to relax and clear my mind and at the same time know that I'm getting rid of toxins and making myself healthier.
