Hemp Yeah I Use CBD
Hi friends! I wanted to write a post about something called CBD. Have you heard of it before? I've been talking about it on instagram quite a bit lately. Maybe you've been a little confused because you didn't realize that Kaetlyn Anne is a pothead. Lol hear me out, there's more to the story! CBD stands for Cannabidiol which is a naturally occurring component of the marijuana plant but also of the industrial hemp plant. CBD is the most abundant non-psychoactiv cannabinoid found in cannabis (the psychoactive cannabinoid being THC) and there are so many amazing benefits.
The CBD I'm going to be sharing about today is CBD extracted from the hemp plant, not the cannabis plant. While THC definitely has its place when it comes to medical marijuana, it's not necessary to consume in order to get the benefits of CBD. The cannabidiol taken from both the marijuana and hemp plants is the exact same compound, but when extracted from the hemp plant, you do not experience a high because the THC levels are so trace.
Hemp is one of the most powerful plants in the world. Hemp can be used for all sorts of different materials. Hemp can create fabrics, which are 100% biodegradable, protect from UV rays, are anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial. Hemp can create plastic materials (think plastic bags, plastic containers, plastic straws, plastic cups) which would be completely biodegradable, unlike plastic now that stays on this earth forever. Not only that but the health benefits of hemp are outstanding. We once thought fish were the only good source of omega-3's. Think again! Hemp is loaded with fatty acids that are not only cruelty free but cholesterol and animal product free (unlike fish). The cannabinoids in the hemp plant are purely nature's medicine. We'll get into the benefits later on in this post.
Why, you may be wondering, has this plant been outlawed for so long if it is so beneficial? The answer is that they simply don't want us using it. Toxic plastic is one hundred and ten percent a part of the systematic poisoning happening in our world today. The materials used to create plastic are extremely toxic to our bodies, to our water, to our soil, and to our air. Without the use of toxic plastic materials, a lot less people would be getting sick, therefore the medical industry would be making a lot less money. If people knew about and used the healing benefits from this plant, then less people would be needing pharmaceuticals. If less people are buying pharmaceuticals, then less people are getting sick from the pharmaceuticals. Do you see how this is just one big cycle of getting us sick and keeping us sick?!
Luckily hemp was legalized again in 2014 and industrial production started back up and soon after several states began legalizing marijuana. Unlike medical marijuana that is only legal in certain states with a prescription written by a doctor, CBD oil that is hemp-based is completely legal in all 50 states and can be purchased wherever you live.
The government owns Patent 6630507 on Cannabis having medicinal qualities and yet they refuse to regulate, recommend, or claim that it has any medicinal qualities. Sounds fishy to me don't ya think?
The Endocannabinoid System
Our bodies contain cannabinoid receptors located throughout the body that are apart of the endocannabinoid system, which is linked to a variety of physiological processes including appetite, pain, mood, memory, sleep, stress response, metabolism, immune function, energy, etc. If that's not proof that our bodies are meant to be taking CBD, then I don't know what is.
Where do I find CBD oil?
CBD oil is not something you can buy at your typical grocery store. At least not yet anyways! It's not the same as just plain old hemp oil that you drizzle on your salad. CBD must be purchased through a CBD company or a location that carries that company.
I use and recommend the brand NuLeaf Naturals. After a lot of research I have found this to be the best CBD out there! It is one of the only full spectrum (meaning whole-plant extracts) CBD oil out there which has been shown to be more beneficial than CBD isolate. NuLeaf Naturals is all natural, raw, has no additives or preservatives and is 100% organic and non-GMO. Because the USDA refuses to certify any hemp products grown in the US at this time, NuLeaf Naturals puts their products through rigorous third party testing to ensure NO pesticides, herbicides, residues, chemicals, etc are in the final product. They are completely transparent about this and you can email them anytime to see a copy of their current lab results. Test results being available to the public is super important when purchasing CBD. If a company won't show you their lab results, don't buy from them.
At NuLeaf Naturals they use a C02 extraction method which is the most sustainable and beneficial method of extraction and definitely something you want to look for when choosing a CBD oil.
There are quite a few locations that carry NuLeaf Naturals and you can use this page to find one near you if you would rather purchase in person.
NuLeaf Naturals has super fast shipping and most orders will be delivered in 2-3 days after placing your order!
If you order online you can use the code KAETLYNANNE for 15% off your order!
*Please note that all the information and recommendations I am sharing on this page is based on NuLeaf Natural's CBD amounts and purity. I am not familiar with other companies and what their levels of THC may be or if they contain any pesticides, residues, molds, preservatives, additives or chemicals, etc. NuLeaf is the way to go! *
What is CBD used for?
CBD has been shown to have a multitude of health benefits. A few being that CBD is antiemetic (reduces nausea and vomiting), anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial, antipsychotic, anticonvulsant, anti-tumor, anti-cancer, anti-depressant, anxiolytic (combats anxiety), analgesic (relieves pain), and more. The topics I am about to cover only skim the surface of CBD benefits and uses so I highly encourage you to also look at the resources and studies I have linked below and do your own research as well (from reliable sources of course...think non-government funded organizations and websites ;)
CBD for pets
CBD is extremely beneficial to pets as well as humans! Dogs and cats with seizures, tumors, anxiety, etc have miracle stories after taking CBD. I even have given some to my bunny Theo.
If you take a moment to read the reviews at the bottom of the product page, there are some amazing testimonies about CBD helping people's pets!
CBD for depression, anxiety, and stress
I spoke in my Mental Health Testimony about the myth of mental illness being an imbalance in the brain. Depression, anxiety, and other mental disorders are usually stems of deeper seeded health issues, most commonly inflammation. Because CBD is so beneficial for inflammation, as well as it's calming properties, many people suffering from depression and/or anxiety have found relief using CBD. Although my anxiety is no longer as bad as it used to be (I haven't had a panic attack in over a year), I still struggle with social anxiety in new places. Since I started taking CBD oil, my anxiety has been practically non-existent. When taking CBD for anxiety, or anything really, consistency is key. I take my daily dose (25mg) and then take extra as needed (if I'm feeling particularly anxious or know I am about to go somewhere where my anxiety is high). I honestly feel amazing after I take this and I have definitely noticed a difference and a better sense of calm in my life.
CBD for pain
It's time to ditch the Advil y'all! Seriously, that stuff is toxic. The BEST headache remedy that I have found is as follows:
All Natural Headache Remedy:
- 25mg of NuLeaf Naturals CBD held under your tongue for 60 seconds before swallowing
- 1 drop of organic peppermint oil + 1 drop of organic lavender essential oil mixed with a carrier oil rubbed and massaged into the forehead, temples, back of the neck and brain stem, and behind the ears.
- Let yourself relax and drink some filtered water while you let the plants work their magic!
All Natural Menstrual Relief:
- 25mg of NuLeaf Naturals CBD held under your tongue for 60 seconds before swallowing
- 1 drop of organic geranium essential oil + 1 drop of organic clary sage essential oil mixed with a carrier oil (you can use CBD for some extra relief!) massaged onto your abdomen and lower back.
CBD is analgesic which means it can relieve pain. For my body, 25mg is a pretty good dose for a mild headache, but stronger pain can be relieved with stronger doses. Play around and find what works best with your body best because everyone is going to be different!
CBD for cancer
I won't get into the whole science-y side of things here, but CBD is shown to have effects that inhibit cancer cell migration, adhesion, and invasion. CBD triggers the death of cancer cells and can even stop and prevent tumor growth. This has been shown time and time again in many studies and people have some amazing testimonies about using CBD for cancer. Please check out my resources below for more information and studies :)
CBD for acne and other skin issues
Because of CBD's anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties it is amazing for acne and skin issues! I will occasionally use a bit mixed with a drop of organic frankincense oil (another one of nature's most powerful plants) and apply it to my face and I have been noticing a HUGE difference in my skin! Taking it internally helps as well because healing from the inside out is the most important! Not only has CBD been proven to be beneficial for acne but for other skin issues as well such as psoriasis and dermatitis.
CBD has also been shown to be beneficial to those suffering from mental disorders such as ADD, ADHA, Bipolar, OCD, Schizophrenia, etc, HIV/AIDS, Alzheimer's and memory function, eating disorders such as anorexia, asthma, autism, digestive issues such as IBS, inflammation, diabetes, hormones, seizures and epilepsy, heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, sleep issues, strokes, and SO MUCH MORE!
If you are human, you could benefit from CBD.
Will CBD oil get me high?
CBD is derived from the hemp plant and is non-psychoactive. NuLeaf Natural's THC levels are less than 0.3% which is why it is legal to purchase in all 50 states. Even if you were to drink an entire bottle at once you would not get high because the levels are so trace. And there's no concern for addiction/dependence or taking too much. I have read of people with epilepsy that take around 300mg a day, schizophrenics that take around 1,000mg a day and still do not experience a high even with that high of an amount. Studies have shown that taking even 700mg a day for 6 weeks showed no toxicity in humans even with prolonged use. To put it simply, you cannot overdose on CBD that is extracted from hemp. Most likely you will not be taking that much daily if you are using it for anxiety or general wellness purposes.
How much should I take?
Although it depends on what you are taking CBD for, most people have reported that 25-35mg of NuLeaf Naturals once or twice daily is the best for them. It will definitely take time to play around and see what dose works best for you. Start with a lower dose and work your way up slowly so you can recognize when it starts working for you. I currently take 25mg once daily for general wellness purposes, anxiety, acne, and inflammation and occasionally an extra 25mg as needed for extra anxiety relief or pain relief if I have a headache.
How do I take CBD?
There are a few different ways to consume NuLeaf Naturals' CBD. The fasted absorption will be found through a sublingual dose which means holding the oil under your tongue for 30-60 seconds before swallowing. This is what I do when taking my daily 25mg. CBD oil can also be applied topically, which I also do occasionally on my face to help with my acne. It also can be blended into a smoothie if you desire to take it that way.
Will this help my condition?
Legally I am not allowed to say whether or not CBD will help your ailment or condition. I urge you to research the amazing benefits of this plant for yourself and decide for yourself whether or not it can be beneficial specifically to you.
Is CBD safe for pregnancy?
Like anything, always speak to your health care practitioner before starting any new dietary supplement programs and of course do your own research! Studies have had mixed results so I truly cannot say. I have read some amazing testimonies of CBD helping with nausea and so much more during a pregnancy as well as with labor and delivery so it's worth looking into and deciding for yourself!
Does CBD smell like weed?
NuLeaf's oil in the bottle does has a slight cannabis/hemp smell, but you're definitely not going to walk around smelling like weed so you don't have to worry about that! It's not super strong even when I use the oil topically it's not really something anyone else can smell.
"I don't think I can afford CBD"
Unfortunately the in the world that we live in, the healthy stuff ain't cheap. You get what you pay for. Do you ever wonder why cheap food, with 20+ ingredients and additives and fillers are so cheap, meanwhile something that's organic with 7 ingredients is so expensive? Wouldn't it cost more to make food with more ingredients? It's just common sense. But it's all a part of the systematic poisoning. The stuff that makes you sick is the stuff that's cheap. It's cheap so we buy it. And then we get sick. It's the exact never ending cycle that they want us to get stuck in. I could go on and on about how it's all apart of the system, but I won't go any further down this rabbit hole. My point is, we have to sacrifice in order to be able to afford what is healthy for us. Ideally someday healthy organic food and supplements will be available to all at an affordable price.
This is where simple living comes in. (Some may be familiar with this being called minimalism). Instead of spending our money frivolously on things we don't need, we spend it wisely. We value craft over consumerism. We shop second hand, we live simply, we only bring into our home what we really truly need.
For the average American, 90% of the stuff money is spent on, simply isn't needed. Sure Hulu is great but do you reeeaaaallllyyy need that?
Cancel your cable. Cancel Netflix. Start going to the library instead of buying books. Shop at thrift stores. Use things until they break, not just until a newer version comes out. Downgrade your car. Hell, downgrade your house.
Use that money you save towards true health and organic foods and CBD if you so desire! You do not have to be rich to make healthy choices, you just have to be wise.
I highly recommend taking a look at NuLeaf Naturals, read their story and their products, and read their reviews! I absolutely love reading all of the amazing reviews on their website. The testimonies are amazing and so full of natural healing. God has created this amazing plant that is ridiculously beneficial. Honestly the medical industry is terrified of this stuff which is why it's so important to normalize it. In this day in age you have to be your own health advocate. Not your doctor. Not your mom. You. You have to do your own research. You have to learn what's going into your body. You have to learn the truth yourself because no one is going to do it for you.
If you do purchase from NuLeaf Naturals, you can use the code KAETLYNANNE at checkout for 15% off your order :)
