An Apology and A Long Awaited Q&A

Monday, June 26, 2017

Hello my dear friends! I have to apologize for being so inactive these past few weeks. I haven't forgotten about you, and I don't intend to stop blogging anytime soon! I have received quite a few angry messages that I haven't posted the Q&A I promised, and I want to say I truly am sorry and I suppose I owe you all an explanation as to why I haven't been blogging much these days.

If I am being honest, I have been in a fog of familiar darkness that leaves me uninspired. On top of that, life has been crazy busy. I had no idea how time consuming it is to own a business- even as small as mine may be right now. I am grateful, but feeling stretched thin.

For a while there I thought blogging was going to be a thing of my past, but I don't want it to be. I still have so many things I want to share- it just hasn't been pouring out of me as easily as it used to. But I mustn't let darkness win. I am forever chasing light, even if sometimes the chase leaves me more out of breath than usual. It's definitely hard when people expect content from me and it adds to the pressure. I never want to let any of you down, but I also need grace while I learn to balance all my responsibilities in this crazy time of life. I never want my posts to be anything but organic and I want quality over quantity because I know you deserve nothing less.

So! With that being said, here is the long awaited Q&A. I am sorry it took me so long and thank you to everyone and anyone who took the time to ask me a question! I was honestly flattered when people that weren't my mom asked me something :)

When did you start doing photography?
7th grade! If I'm being honest it all started with me taking selfies on my mom's camera for Facebook (hahahah please don't judge) but then it grew into a love for taking pictures in general and I got my first little point and shoot camera that year!

Fall or spring and why?
This is extremely hard! I love spring because it's such a hopeful season of growth, but I am gonna have to go with fall! There's some sort of magic about fall that I can feel just thinking about it. I love the coziness and the dreary days and our trips to Cooks Forest and the pumpkins and blankets and coffee and omg! I'm getting myself too excited for fall already. Definitely fall :)

What are your favorite bible verses?
1 Thessalonians 4:11 + 1 John 1:5

When and why did you start blogging?
I started blogging at the beginning of 2016! I honestly had no idea how to blog nor did I read blogs on the regular. I think I just wanted a space that I could share my ideas and photography other than Instagram. I was also beginning my natural living journey at that time and I wanted to share that with others as well.

When and how did you decide to live healthier and more natural?
The short version of the story is when I realized how damaging anti-depressants were to my body around the end of 2015. I wanted to be healthy physically and mentally, and I knew there had to be a way to do so naturally. My mother has always been into a natural and organic lifestyle but I never was interested in it until then. It changed my life to say the least, and I hope someday to write more in depth my testimony about mental illness and natural living and how the two collided.

What camera do you use?
I use a canon t6i and typically a 50mm lens for everything. I have yet to invest in a better lens- but I really believe that it's not about the equipment. If you truly have a passion for photography, you can create something beautiful whether you have a good camera or lens.

How do you edit your photos?
Typically, I will edit with the VSCO app for Instagram and Lightroom for my blog. I don't share my exact editing process or filters because I believe it's important for everyone to develop their own style. I do a lot of messing around with filters and editing and it's taken me a while to figure out what I like (actually, I'm still learning!) and I encourage you to do the same!

Who are some of your favorite lifestyle/Christian blogs to read?
Madyson Grace, Kate Ashbrook, SoulScripts

What countries would you like to visit?
France most of all. Just thinking about Paris gets me starry-eyed and I'd also love to stay in a little French farmhouse in the countryside. It's also a daydream of mine to visit Italy and maybe find me a Paulo.

Where are you from? Small town/big city?
I live in a suburb in Ohio, it's a small town! I had about 100 kids in my graduating class if that gives any perspective on size.

Are you going to college? If so what are you majoring in?
I am currently going to community college and studying small business management!

What do you want to do once you graduate?
Once I graduate I'd like to find a hubby, start a family, buy a farm, and open a cafe/home goods store. Not necessarily in that order :)

Do you have any other pets other than your bunny and cat?
I have my bunny Theodore, my kitty Oliver, a guinea pig named Franklin, a frog (that my mom has had since before I was even born), and a fish!

Where do you draw your style inspiration from?
As for fashion, I'm honestly still learning and developing my personal style! It has changed so much over the years but it's definitely still evolving. I currently drift more towards basics. My fashion is inspired mainly by the styles I see on social media that I think are cute and would fit in with who I am and my lifestyle :)

What are your tips on living simpler and healthier as a Christian?
My number one tip is to turn to The Word! Everything I believe about simple and natural living has been placed on my heart by God and what is said in His word. The thing that helps me the most is viewing my body as a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) and really diving into what that means and how it relates to not conforming to this world and it's ways (Romans 12:2). It's definitely a hard and time consuming lifestyle change, so if you're first starting out, I suggest asking God what areas of your life could use some cleaning up first, and see what He puts on your heart :)

What would be your perfect day?
My perfect day would begin with a slow morning accompanied by my bunny Theo and a cup of black coffee, maybe 2 :) Sunshine, fresh picked flowers, maybe a trip to the market or a drive down a country road. Lots of gardening. A fire pit with s'mores and hot dogs once the sun goes down and it gets a little cooler. Catching lightning bugs, going to bed with messy hair and dirty feet.

What are your favorite hobbies?

I like to read, write, garden, paint, arts and crafts, baking :)

There ya go friends! I hope that answers at least a few of the common questions I get! Thank you for being so patient with me while I worked on getting this up. Much love to you all!
