Venturing to the Library

Wednesday, December 14, 2016

Do you visit your local library? If you think about it, libraries are amazing. It's literally free books!! That are no cost to you! Young, old, smart, uneducated, happy, sad, tall, short, tired, bored- no matter what you are, the library has books for you.

As Arthur once said, "Having fun isn't hard, when you've got a library card." Definitely one of the most inspirational quotes of our generation.

There's something about just taking your time, wandering up and down the aisles, feeling the sunshine hit your face whilst limitless knowledge surrounds you.

Library books have been through a lot. They are books that have been held by other people, read by other people, and re-read by other people. They're filled with pages that have been doggie eared, stained with spilled coffee, and sometimes even hold evidence of spilled tears. The page you're reading now may have been the page to change a stranger's life.

Then you get to come home and curl up with all your new reads + a cup of tea and just get lost in a different world for a while.

My current library checkouts:

  • The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up + Spark Joy both by Marie Kondo. Not that my cleaning obsession needs any encouragement...but I'm excited to see what these say.
  • The Couple Next Door- Shari Lapena You can always find me reading a thriller.
  • Uninvited- Lysa TerKeurst. This one has been on my to-read list for a long time.
  • Romantic Prairie Style- Fifi O'Neill. This book is a dreeeaaam. This style is my everything and since we're slowly transitioning our style to farmhouse, this book is awesome inspiration.
  • Two sewing books for beginners. Just the other day I got my sewing machine down from the attic and no instruction booklet was to be found. So I picked up some books from the library that should help.

This winter, I challenge you to visit your local library and get yourself a library card if you don't have one already. Visit when you have time to waste and can explore each section unhurried. If you're feeling brave, check out a book that normally wouldn't be of interest to you and open your mind to learning something new.

Happy reading!
