Fall Decorating

Saturday, October 29, 2016

Hey y’all! I can’t believe October is almost over. It’s gone way too fast! I wanted to make a post giving you guys some ideas for fall decorating, we still a month left to enjoy it! In the Kennedy household we don't normally celebrate/decorate for Halloween but some of these were too cute to pass up. I also included some other decorations we have around the house :)

↠Ghost Leaves↞
What you need:
Leaves (your shape of choice, I used silver maple)
White paint
Black paint or black paint pen
Directions:
So the leaves don’t crinkle once taken inside, I pressed mine in a book for about 24 hours. After they are nice and flat, lay them out on scrap paper and paint the whole leaf white. Once that is dry, paint on the face with black! I found it easier to use a black paint pen to draw the faces than to try to do it with a brush and paint.
These are cute to just put around the house or make a garland out of! To make a garland all you need is a piece of string and a hot glue gun to glue the leaves on.

↠Nature Jar↞
What you need:
A jar of any sort
Nature- acorns, buckeyes, pine needles, leaves, etc
Directions:
Take the nature. Put it in the jar.

        ↠Leaf Printing↞

What you need:
Leaves (your shape of choice)
Paint (your color of choice)
Whatever you want to print; a piece of wood, a dish towel, a pillow case, a piece of paper- anything!
Directions:
Give the back of the leaves a light coat of paint. Enough to cover the “veins” of the leaves but not too much so the leaf is drenched. The goal is to get the imprint of the outline and the veins that run through it. Lay the leaf flat on your item and press down on the entire leaf. Lift and wahla!

↠Jack-o-lantern Jar↞
What you need:
A clear jar
Black paint
Twine (optional)
Tea light candles
Directions:
Tape off the triangles that you want to be your eyes so the end result is clean cut lines. Since the nose was so tiny I free handed that. Outline your desired mouth shape with a marker then fill in with black paint. Once dry, I added twine around the top of the jar and put a tea light candle inside.

As you can see, most of these decorations required little to no money spent! It's easy to make your house cute for cheap during the holiday seasons, you just have to get creative! What do your fall decorations look like?
