Natural Coconut Grapefruit Lip Scub

I'm not sure if it's just me, but I've been noticing that more and more people are spending buckets of money on Lush products. Don't get me wrong, I can see the appeal. The cute aesthetic, the delicious smells and chemicals :'). My heart breaks that people are falling for their slogan of "Fresh and Handmade". But no where does it say the products are natural. They're full of toxins including Parabens (!!!which are linked to breast cancer and hormone imbalances and so much more) I'll admit, I'm just as guilty of my long-time love affair with Bath and Body Works. I STILL occasionally use their lotion or light one of my many candles that I couldn't part with. But the key word is occasionally. Anyways, I know all y'all Lush-lovers out there are shooting dagger eyes at this post. But my heart is so eager to help people realize the importance of what's going into your bodies!! That being said, I have the worlds easiest and most delicious lip scrub recipe that's ready for you to try :)

Natural Coconut Grapefruit Lip Scrub

What you need:
  • coconut oil, softened (organic preferably)
  • white sugar
  • grapefruit essential oil
In all the lip scrub recipes I have tried, I discovered that there wasn't enough sugar therefore it ended up being more of a moisturizer than a scrub. So after experimenting I have found the perfect ratio. For every tablespoon of coconut oil, I use 2 1/2 tablespoons of sugar and 7 drops of oil.

Mix all your ingredients together and there you have it! Store in a cute, preferably glass, jar. One tablespoon batch was enough to fill the jar shown and is the perfect amount. In the winter it can sit on a shelf but in the summer I like to keep mine in the fridge so the coconut oil doesn't melt. And it keeps it fresher longer :)
